Description of Facility:   The project involved managing the design and construction of the fitting out of 5,500m² of Developer's shell to form a high quality health club. The club has been designed and constructed to cater for 5,000 members and includes a 25m swimming pool and a teaching pool, 2 aerobics studios, spinning room, holistics room, a main gym and ladies gym. Showers, sunbed rooms, steam rooms and a poolside sauna. Beauty treatment rooms and a Café / Bar, lounge and crèche.

Description of Facility:   The total refurbishment of The Old Parsonage Hotel in Oxford.

The existing building comprised of a 17th Century structure with a 20th Century extension.

The project was to upgrade the hotel to provide modern 5 star accommodation whilst maintaining and continuing the character of the original structure.

Description of Facility:   The conversion of the former prison, which incorporates buildings from the 11th to the 20th centuries, into an hotel. The site area has listed buildings of all grades -I, II* and II - and is a scheduled ancient monument. It also lies in a conservation area. The project involved repair and refurbishment of historic buildings, demolition of some elements, new buildings in a historic context. Conversion of prison into a new hotel with the construction of a new linked wing. Construction of new buildings for education, residential, retail, bars and restaurants.

Background:  

Oxford Castle is the site of William the Conqueror's motte and bailey castle built soon after the Norman Conquest of 1066, in 1071. A stone keep was built on the top of the Mound, and soon towers and walls were added to increase the defences.

The Shire Hall was where the courts were held, and the gaol was within the walls. Oxford Castle held the county gaol, then HM Prison Oxford, until 1996, when the Prison was closed and returned to Oxfordshire County Council.
